Badlands: discover the wild side of Andalusia
Looking for a trip unlike any other? We’ve got just the thing. The BADLANDS camp is a moving adventure that starts and ends in Granada, taking you through the lunar landscapes of Gorafe and the mountains of Sierra de Baza along the way.
Inspired by the legendary race of the same name, our route only loosely follows its course. The camp’s name refers primarily to the extraordinary area north of Sierra Nevada – a wild, rugged semi-desert full of lunar rock formations and gravel gems.
This is the first edition of the camp, but the region is not unfamiliar to us – we’ve visited several times and ran the Sierra Nevada camp here last year. Expect long stretches through desert valleys, climbs in the mountains, and rides through towns where time seems to slow down. Each day brings new landscapes, new views, and new emotions.
Why Badlands? Because it’s the essence of adventure – riding in unexpected places, the contrast of harsh wastelands and green mountains, all under the Spanish sun and Andalusian atmosphere.
This is the first edition of the Badlands camp, so the photos on this page are from other camps – mainly last year’s Sierra Nevada.

Transport
Trzy dni przed wylotem (22.04) pakujemy rowery i bagaże do busa w Warszawie. Po drodze zatrzymujemy się jeszcze we Wrocławiu. Analogicznie trzy dni po locie powrotnym (06.05) zorganizujemy odbiór rowerów i bagażu w tych samych miastach. Jeśli jesteś z innej części Polski, napisz nam o tym w uwagach do zgłoszenia – spróbujemy coś zorganizować.
Accommodation
The trip is itinerant – we sleep in a different location almost every day. The exceptions are the double night in Abrucena (rest day) and in Granada at the end of the trip. Accommodation standards vary widely – from 3-star hotels and guesthouses to modest lodgings in small villages (in rural areas, you sometimes have to compromise). Rooms are mainly double, and whenever possible, there is access to laundry facilities at nearly every stop.
A single room is available for an extra 1400 PLN.

Routes
Although this is the first edition of the Badlands camp, we know Andalusia very well. We’ve visited the Granada and Sierra Nevada areas many times, and the camp route partially overlaps with last year’s Sierra Nevada routes. References to the Badlands race are loose – we don’t follow the race route exactly, but ride in the same region. Of course, we won’t skip the most iconic spots from the race.
The camp features plenty of beautiful, scenic premium gravel typical of this region, along with some mountain rubble and steep concrete sections. The route is technically moderately challenging, but there’s more gravel than asphalt. As always, we recommend using the widest tires possible for greater comfort. Like always, we suggest tires around 45 mm wide or more.
Note: we reserve the right to make changes to the schedule that do not significantly affect distances or elevation gains.
Guides
Janek
Lover of all kinds of adventure cycling. Rides his bike more than 300 days a year. Most enjoys exploring the world from the perspective of two wheels, which he does at every opportunity. Rides in the mountains, takes photos, drinks coffee and eats pastries. The architect of routes and camps, and main photographer.
Doma
Loves to pet doggies and eat jellies. Also rides all year round, regardless of the weather. Apparently, the only kind of cycling she does is romantic cycling. You won't find her at races or on a trainer. But don't get it wrong - she rides over a dozen thousand kilometers every year. The most emphatic part of ENDLESS - always ready to help when needed, and won't leave you behind in the woods.
